Alek Wek for Benetton’s Spring 2013 Campaign

Benetton enlisted a diverse array of subjects for their Spring 2013 ad campaign, including Sudanese supermodel Alek Wek and Brazilian transsexual model, Lea T. The dynamic group of models strike energetic poses for photographer Giulio Rusitchelli’s camera in Benetton’s colorful Spring wardrobe.

In a fun video interview, they each speak honestly and openly about their personal lives and what the word “color” means to them.  Besides revealing that, like many women, she chooses outfit colors based on her mood, Alex Wek drops this inspirational gem: “You have to be able to accept yourself bad and good because there is no perfect.” I couldn’t agree more. Fashion Around The World

As I researched the different styles, I discovered that the world is full of amazing fashion influences. There are vibrant colors in East Africa, the sultry and sexy vibe in India, and the exaggerated silhouettes in Denmark. It is truly inspirational to see how these different countries express fashion and street style around the world (via African Mag). Let’s look at some of the styles:

A new exhibition at New York’s Fashion Institute of Technology Museum is all about fabulous footwear.

Shoes make for feel-good shopping. You’re never too fat for footwear, never too washed out… Small wonder we’re obsessed with what’s on our feet. A new exhibition at New York’s Fashion Institute of Technology focuses on just that. Carrie Bradshaw et al paved the way for the rest of us shoe obsessives, making household names of Christian Louboutin and Jimmy Choo. How better to catalogue our compulsive streak than with 150 examples of the hottest, highest and most heavenly heels?

Shoe Obsession runs 8 February13 April, The Museum at FIT (fitnyc.edu). See more shoe images below.
