Smoothie Day

smootieThis healthy, flavorful smoothie takes advantage of two wonderful seasonal ingredients in the Pacific Northwest- kale, and strawberries. Although it is not the time of year to eat local strawberries…you can buy them at the grocerie store.  I’ve decided to mix the strawberries in this smoothie with kale for a boost of nutrients, and a bit of earthy flavor. I used curly kale, but any kind will do. What a fantastic way to start the day!

Strawberry Kale Smoothie

  • 1 cup strawberries
  • 1/2 banana
  • 1 cup kale, packed, stems removed
  • 1 cup cubed ice
  • 1 scoop neutral flavored protein powder (I use Vega)
  • 1 tsp maca powder
  • 1 cup almond milk

Blend all ingredients thoroughly in a blender. And then enjoy this yummy smoothie! (via eatingwell)

Have you tried this recipe before ? What is your favorite smoothie ?  Let me know in a comment below.
