March 8th marked the International Women’s Day and Jada Pinkett Smith posted this message on her facebook fan page: None of us can move forward if half of us are held back. Join us, Beyoncé Knowles-Carter, Salma Hayek Pinault, and Frida Giannini by liking Chime for Change: bit.ly/LikeChime. We are in Women’s Month and today is International Women’s Day. Here is a great organization I am a part of and you should be too!

Gucci launches a new global campaign for girls and women’s empowerment at TED2013, led by Frida Giannini, Beyoncé Knowles-Carter and Salma Hayek Pinault. CHIME FOR CHANGE, founded by Gucci, is a new global campaign to raise funds and awareness for girls’ and women’s empowerment. Considering what the country went through in the past month and I found this a very touching video and campaign for this past Women’s Day!

CHIME FOR CHANGE will continue to update its community with exciting news, including a major announcement in mid-March about a global CHIME FOR CHANGE event that will put girls’ and women’s issues on the world’s stage. To stay informed, visit http://www.chimeforchange.org and join the community on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/ChimeForChange.

I think this is a great initiative as I love to see women get together to empower other women. What do you think about this new global campaign for girls and women’s empowerment ? Let me know in a comment below.

Some of the Best Bob Haircuts in History

a1Last fall, Karlie Kloss caused quite a stir when she showed up to the Victoria’s Secret fashion show — a place where long legs and long hair are celebrated in equal measure — with a short, chin-skimming crop. But a hundred or so years before there was Karlie, there was an American dancer known as Irene Castle, who spent much of her early career dancing across Europe and picking up stylish notions, eventually chopping off her long hair into what is now known as the bob. She’s credited with bringing the look Stateside back in the early 1900s, and this soon became the cut to have for all the flapper girls. From then until now, there’s been an epic list of ladies who have shorn their hair, from Clara Bow to Courtney Love.  See below the other notable participants, including supermodels (Linda, Naomi), one Spice Girl and more.
