Be Inspired

I was reading this article the other day and I had to share it with you. This story has moved…inspired and reminded me to never give up. Top Nineties model Kiara Kabukuru makes a triumphant comeback after near-fatal car accident destroyed her career 12 years ago.

Nineties model Kiara Kabukuru thought her career was over after a horrific car accident nearly killed her, after reconstructive surgeries and more than a decade of recovery, she is plotting her return.
The 37-year-old former Victoria’s Secret model was riding her bicycle around New York City on Memorial Day weekend in 2000 when she was hit by an 18-wheel truck, which left her face mutilated.
But thanks to some encouragement from her close friend, Gisele Bundchen, the Uganda-born beauty is ready to make her comeback; featuring in the first issue of Carine Roitfeld’s new magazine, CR Fashion Book, and now the March 2013 issue of W magazine.

Now, Ms Kabukuru is back, and apparently up for a major cosmetics contract.

‘In my life, there have been all these reversals of fortune,’ she said. ‘I think I was proving to myself my strength and my ability to survive. And now I am ready.’

London Plus Size Fashion Week : In a Curvisious World !

curvy7

London Plus Size Fashion Week held their inaugural event over the weekend in London.  The 2-day  events included dressing tutorials, panel discussion, and a runway show for women’s fashions sized 8 (UK size: 12) and up.  The show hosted 13 designers, and a bevy of curvy plus-sized models full of confidence. The plus sized fashion industry credits Kim Kardashion, Beyonce, and other curvy stars with helping boost interest in plus-sized high fashion.

Cupcakes were served backstage and models were greeted on the catwalk with full applause- a world away from the official London Fashion Week shows around the corner.  After reading a few review of the inaugural event, it looks like London Plus Size Fashion Week has carved out its own place during London Fashion Week.  Get more at http://www.lpsfw.com.

She plans to run the plus-sized event again next year, hoping to emulate the success of New York’s Full-Figured Fashion Week which is in its fifth year.

We should all embrace our shapes and sizes. What do you think about this fashion show ? Let me know in a comment below.

Zip Tie To The Rescue

I have seen this Zipper Tie on the internet and I have decided to do my little research on it. The Zipper Tie was created by designer Josh Jakus, it is a wool constructed necktie and it takes all of your complications away….apparently.  According to the product description: “Business attire doesn’t have to be boring! This clever update to the 9-to-5 staple zips seamlessly around the collar, giving your no-nonsense dress shirt a quirky focal point that doesn’t take itself too seriously. The thick, 100% merino wool felt can be tamed with a simple zip, bringing a welcome dose of levity to this standard piece of office-wear. Hand-cut and sewn in San Francisco, California.”. If you would like one you can order it at Uncommon Goods

I think it’s a brilliant idea for those who are in a rush every morning but what do you think ? Is this for the one who has trouble tying a tie or just the plain and lazy ones who don’t feel like doing it every morning ? Let me know in a comment below.
